The ‘Fun Nationals’ is back for the 2018 edition of the Prize Fight at the hidden gem of eighth-mile dragstrips, Ohio Valley Dragway in Louisville, Kentucky on June 14-16th. The ProCharger Championship Series will continue at the fifth of eight events on the 2018 schedule for the new and exciting Limited Drag Radial category.
After the first four events, we’ve had three different winners and a rain shortened event in the semi-finals with Shane Stack, Daniel Pharris and Paul Gargus claiming victories so far in 2018. In 2017, we saw the inaugural LDR champion take home the title belt with Shane Stack from Huntsville, Alabama laying claim to the Prize Fight victory. Drivers from Alabama have had good luck at this event in the past with Mike Jones winning in 2016 with his Chevrolet Cobalt. The Prize Fight is unique in that the illustration of the event is pushed has more of a fun, laid back atmosphere than the up-tight, full pressure events. While the atmosphere is laid back and fun, the action on track is as hot as any other with the Dream Team Motorsports Consulting team in charge of track preparations and Jason ‘Pooch’ Rueckert rocking the microphone for the heads-up categories.
As the 2018 edition rolls around, the Limited Drag Radial category is brought to the table by Menscer Motorsports and Precision Turbo and Engine to bring forth the $5,000 to Win guaranteed purse. ProCharger is pushing the forefront of the points program as we will be tallying points off this event to go towards the season ending total. X275 returns with assistance from Pro Tree Race Cars and M&M Transmission with a cool $3,500 to Win and paying back to the quarter-finals on only a $100 entry fee. Ultra Street returns to the Prize Fight for the first time in a few seasons with $2,500 up for grabs brought to the table by Billet Atomizer Racing Injectors and Red Line Motorsports. DXP 235 makes it’s debut in the fan-favorite event with $2,500 to Win and is brought to the table by a host of companies including Nitrous Express, Ultimate Converter Concepts, RC Components, FireCore 50, Team Z Motorsports, Forced Induction and more! PTC brings forth a flurry of index action in 6.00 and 7.00 Index then the Ohio Valley Dragway brings in their bracket program and the wheels up nature of the Super Stock/Stock Combo racers!
Another unique portion of the event is just that, the prizes. A long line-up of companies give away some of their top products for all of the teams who come to the event out of random drawings throughout the entire event that helps pass the time with potential down time. VP Racing Fuels, Mickey Thompson Performance Tires and Wheels, MacFab Beadlocks, CFM, Menscer Motorsports, TRZ Motorsports, Outlaw Street Car Reunion, AFCO, Salvato Designs, Holley EFI, PTC and a host of others kick in to the event to give away some of the best products on the market to take your program to the next step!
