The 2019 Limited Drag Radial Points Championship at South Georgia Motorsports Park kicked off at Lights Out Ten and brought us some of the fiercest competition in the class. Racers like Shane Stack, Chad Henderson, Daniel Pharris, Justin Martin, and Paul Gargus just to name a few, were all on hand in Georgia for the season kickoff.
Donald Long’s races never fail to disappoint, and always seem to have a full fields come race day. Right out of the gate Justin Martin let his presence be known with a 4.099 @ 187 to hold the #1 spot. He was followed by Daniel with a 4.132 @ 184 so it was going to be a fast and tight field throughout the competition. Some were only separated by .002 margin between spots in qualifying, while many went their personal best including Chad Henderson with a 4.102.
Friday night, Daniel Pharris was awarded for his 2018 Championship run. He received the Mustang Mike Modeste Championship trophy, a $5,000 LDR Champions check, along with a Champions jacket from class founders Jason Ruckert and Tyler Crossnoe. Daniel brought the Ekanno car last year and fought his way through some tough competition.
As the event unfolded, Huntsville, AL. would come to represent. Shane “The Thrillbilly” Stack and Chad Henderson managed to work their way through the competition and face off in the finals. Chad got Shane on the tree but at 100ft out, he goes up into a wheel stand and has to pedal it, Shane drive’s around him, and to a 4.112 career best ET of the weekend.
This weekend is stop number two on the 2019 LDR tour, and it is at none other than the majestic Beech Bend Raceway for Outlaw Street Car Reunion VI. Since it is only the second race of the season, the points are there for anyone to take and move up in the Championship run. Tyler will have the track on kill, along with his entire team, so don’t be surprised if we see jaw-dropping performance in Limited Drag Radial this weekend. Get ready, it’s going to be a fast and competitive weekend, and if you aren’t there in person, you are really missing out.
